The technical closure of a landfill is a complex process that requires the completion of a series of specialized studies, which are mandated by the Costa Rican Ministry of Health as a condition for approving the closure of these sites and mitigating their environmental and health impacts.
In this context, the municipalities of Tilarán and Bagaces entrusted Geolupa with the preparation of the required technical studies, providing the professional support necessary to substantiate the process before the competent authorities, in accordance with the provisions of Regulation No. 44421-S on Environmental Parks for the Separation, Treatment, Utilization, and Final Disposal of Solid Waste.
Our work enabled both municipalities to proceed in an orderly manner and in compliance with regulations toward the technical closure of their landfills, reducing environmental risks, strengthening waste management, and contributing to the protection of public health and the environment.
